The Right Path?

 

When I was growing up, we lived on a farm.  We had a large area to explore and took advantage of it whenever we could.  My cousin came to visit, and we decided to go on a hike.  We packed a lunch and set out. Our dog, Moe, was a loyal companion who followed us around everywhere.

That day, we went a little further than we should have.  Were we lost? Of course not.  I knew the way very well.  We started down a path toward home (or so I thought).  After a while we came full circle around to the place where we had sat down to eat our lunches.  My cousin began to get scared – “you don’t know the way back” he said.  I wouldn’t tell him, but I was beginning to think the same thing.

But never fear, we had Moe with us.  As if he sensed our fear, he took off down another path.  We followed him and sure enough, he led us right to the barn yard.

I am reminded of what Jesus said in Matthew 28, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.  We can depend on the Lord to always be with us, to know what we are feeling, and to lead us on the
